LYDON PLASTICS
Lydon Model Series 2366 Electrically Heated Drawer Oven

The Lydon 2366 model series of electrically heated drawer type ovens was originally designed for the man-made fiber industries. Its unique vertical air flows through rugged drawers made it ideal for servicing fiber extrusion lines by pre-heating spinnerets. The drive to capture desired properties in high-density and ultra-high-density vinyls, polyesters and polyethylenes was paralleled by a drive for oven equipment to support the growth of the HMW and UHMW industry. Lydon was there. We developed new oven systems and upgraded others. Lo and behold: A new application for the Lydon 2366 model series (among others).

The Lydon Model Series 2366D-T8 is specially designed for high volume vertical air flow through drawers. Its uses include processing of UHMW resin products in a variety of forms: Lydon Ovens not only process the resins but also post-cure many of the end products. With temperature capability up to 800°F (426°C), this type of Lydon Oven has also served to pre-heat spinneret extrusion heads for making fiber and other special shapes of high density plastic materials.

The oven shown has eight drawers, nominally 2ft. x 3ft. Heater power is 50KW. Twin centrifugal fans provide high volume recirculation. Many variations on this design are in operation today. It is one of many examples of how Lydon Creativity provides special solutions to thermoplastic challenges.
