Instrumentation And Other Definitions

HIGH TEMPERATURE LIMIT INSTRUMENT: A device that is required on ovens that are heated by electricity or by gas that will de-energize the heat in the event that a pre-set high temperature set point is attained or exceeded. Such set point is usually higher than normal process set point temperature. High temperature limits (sometimes called “excess” temperature limits) are optional on steam heated ovens, as steam of a given pressure has an inherent high temperature limit. For example: Steam supplied at 15 pounds per square inch gage (nominally 2 bar) cannot be warmer than 250°F (121°C).

DENSITY: The relationship between the mass of something and its volume at a given temperature. Lydon determines the materials handling and the minimum oven size for your materials based upon the mass of your materials and their densities.
